Welcome Baby Alex

On November 5, 2011 at approximately 3:30 A.M. our little one's entry into the world was just beginning.  I wasn't sure what to expect when labor began, but this wasn't it.  There was no "drama" - no HUGE sign.  When I woke up to a small amount of water, I had a feeling this was it!

I waited to wake John until I knew for sure that his was the moment.  When we went to the hospital, I would have never guessed that this little guy would hold out for 25 hours.  It was a what seemed like a never-ending day from admittance to the triage room, finally moving to the birthing suite, a semi-failed epidural, a time change (we had to "fall back"), and hours of pushing.  But at 3:54 A.M. on November 6, 2011, Baby Alexander decided to make his grand appearance.

Alex's 1st Day of Life

It was a quiet delivery, as Alex decided to go to the bathroom on his way out.  I guess he couldn't hold it.  After a few minutes of cleaning up with the NICU nurses, Alex was placed in my arms to stay.  We were instantly in love and the 25 hours seemed to be a distant memory.

For a week or two the visitors poured in and out, but the times we could just get to know him as our little family were the best times.  We took baby steps learning how to care for this new, tiny, bundle of joy.  There were some laughs, some tears, and a whole lot of love.

Thanks to our friend Lyndsey, we got beautiful newborn pics of our baby boy.

Now, a little over a month later, we have had our first milestones including our first Thanksgiving & first bath.  We have our moments of screaming and lack of sleep, but the tender smiles, soft nuzzles, and silly faces make it all worth it.  He has changed our lives dramatically, and I don't think we would have it any other way!  He is the most precious gift ever.
